The first documented use of a language learning system used
Edison wax-cylinder recorders to record student’s answers to audio “plumbed” along
metal pipes to eager student’s ears. Since the first “language
lab” was used in Ohio, USA, well over a half century ago, technology
has constantly offered simpler and more beneficial paths for students learning
a foreign language. For more than 40 years, ASC has been in the forefront
of language learning technology and since that time has pioneered many technologies
and techniques of modern language learning.
ESPRIT
The fully computerized ESPRIT is a full
featured "electronic classroom". The ESPRIT was specifically
designed for multi-media applications at all types of schools and universities.
It offers a simple but very effective tool for overall communication
and data mangement in a modern multi media environment. The new generation
of multimedia systems allows the students to communicate via LAN with
messaging systems (chat rooms) and to be connected to the World Wide
Web.
ESPRIT LE
ESPRIT LE is a full featured "software-only" solution.
It was specifically designed to bridge the gap between the available
features of a standard computer lab with no language training capabilities
and the complete ESPRIT with specific hardware. ESPRIT LE operates
on a networked PC-system without specific hardware known from traditional
language teaching systems. The system is fully compatible with the
operation and most features of the ESPRIT with audio active panels
and/or cassette recorders.
D.A.V.I.D
ESPRIT and ESPRIT LE contain a fully integrated digital
recorder (D.A.V.I.D. = Digital Audio Video Interactive Device) for recording
the teacher’s voice and generating comments or instructional sections The
student computers are equipped with D.A.V.I.D. software, which replays
video and audio on their screen and acts as a replacement for an analog
cassette recorder. The integration of internet browsing and multiple
choice lessons increase students motivation.
AS 100 MK II
AS 100 MK II is a microprocessor-
controlled Learning Laboratory with cassette
drive.
With the versatile training possibilities of a language-lab
students need no longer be restricted to perform basic exercises,
but can progress at their own pace. The microprocessor - controlled
learning system can be used as flush mount version for static installations
as well as desktop version for mobile installations.

"We are able to accommodate more classes and students in the same amount of time.
The ASC system, given its solidness and thoroughness, represents the hallmark of German engineering.
The well thought-out design is evident throughout the system, especially in the way it works.” Phade Vader, Texas Tech University, USA
